Overview
The first day of the 2025 course, ‘Health, Occupation, and the Environment: Global Issues and Local Action’, will focus on global issues in Occupational and Environmental Health and be held in honor of the late Dr. Joseph “Joe” LaDou, MD., a great teacher and editor of a definitive textbook in occupational and environmental medicine.
The second and third days will cover challenging cases in Occupational and Environmental Medicine, Generative AI, Integrative Medicine and effective advocacy for patients and communities. This year’s conference will include breakout sessions, interactive demonstrations, and other opportunities to interact with the presenters and other attendees. A poster session will be held during afternoon of the second day to showcase work from students, trainees, and other participants. A call for posters will be issued prior to the meeting.
Objectives
Attendees completing this course will be able to:
- Analyze the evolving landscape of Occupational and Environmental Health (OEH) practice by identifying emerging challenges related to climate change, planetary health, and patient-centered integrative care to improve competency in addressing complex clinical cases.
- Apply evidence-based strategies and systematic approaches to assess and manage challenging OEH cases, incorporating integrative and multidisciplinary perspectives that align with current trends and best practices in the field.
- Develop a comprehensive approach to patient and community health by integrating knowledge of climate and environmental factors with traditional occupational health practices to enhance clinical outcomes and address broader public health concerns.
