Overview

This program brings together members of the Abbott Orthopaedic Society, faculty and residents of the UCSF Department of Orthopaedics, and orthopedic providers in the community at large in a collaborative presentation of recent advances and updates in orthopaedic surgery. Our schedule of presentations will address current clinical and research topics that affect clinician decision-making in day-to-day practice.

Course Highlights

  • Exciting educational program featuring concise “hot topic” presentations on issues critical to clinical practice
  • Panel discussions featuring our visiting professors
  • Thursday May 1st – Happy Hour Social following the days presentations for networking
  • Friday May 2nd – Bones Ball Dinner and Reception

Objectives

Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:

  • Improve the management of the orthopaedic patient, including considerations for elective surgery;
  • Describe new developments in orthopedic oncology and spine surgery;
  • Evaluate the pros and cons of managing musculoskeletal injuries and conditions with and without surgery;
  • Discuss the most relevant updates in the various fields of orthopedics;
  • Evaluate the impact of differences in access to quality healthcare for vulnerable populations;
  • Improve patient outcomes using best evidence and optimizing patient communication and shared-decision making.
