Overview

This live course will include lectures, hands-on workshops, interactive question and answer sessions, that aim to provide an overview of pediatric musculoskeletal conditions and sports-related injuries that are commonly encountered by Primary Care Providers. This course aims to provide a comprehensive learning experience that will improve providers’ knowledge, skills, and competence in managing specific conditions. In addition, participants can look forward to learning about our multidisciplinary approach to managing pediatric musculoskeletal and sports-related conditions through evidence-based practices.

Objectives

  1. Recognize and manage musculoskeletal conditions (eg. spine deformity, lower limb differences, trauma) that are unique to the pediatric population.
  2. Review strategies to optimize bone health in children and adolescents.
  3. Discuss the comprehensive management and interdisciplinary team approach for medical and musculoskeletal sports-related injuries in young athletes.
  4. Perform vestibulo-ocular assessment and provide rehabilitation program for sport-related concussions in young athletes.
  5. Discuss indications for diagnostic and therapeutic modalities and clinical features that should prompt referral to specialists.

Accreditation

In support of improving patient care, the University of California, San Francisco is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
