Overview
This five-day course is designed for practicing radiologists in the community, and covers fundamentals and pitfalls of state-of-the-art imaging (as well as hot-topics) in short, focused sessions. Different course faculty will lecture each day in order to bring a diverse cross-section of experience and knowledge from the various UCSF-affiliated sites and sections.
Lecture topics will focus on a practical review of routine presentations of the abdomen and pelvis in the areas of GI, GU and ObGyn imaging; and diagnosis of routine and incidental findings in the lungs and chest cavity. This will be supplemented by diagnosis in imaging of the brain and spine, and the major joints in the musculoskeletal system.
Course content will cover appropriate imaging technique and utilization of CT, MR and US, as well as standard protocols for each organ system.
Objectives
At the completion of this course, the registrant will be able to:
- Implement updated guidelines for imaging of abdominal trauma, infections and inflammatory bowel disease.
- Utilize fundamentals and criteria for imaging of pregnant women at various points of gestation.
- Note the classification and staging of lung cancer, as well identify common pulmonary presentations.
- Recommend MR protocols for the knee, shoulder, hip and ankle; as well as applications of US in MSK imaging.
- Identify brain and spinal disease in both the adult and pediatric patient.
- Select guidelines and protocols for cancer screening of the afore-mentioned organ systems.
