Overview

The Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging at the University of California, San Francisco invites you to attend the Imaging Update in Sorrento course on September 8-13, 2025 at the Hilton Sorrento Palace, just outside the car-free historic city center. The course will present a comprehensive state-of-the-art update on clinically relevant topics in abdominal/pelvic, breast, chest, musculoskeletal, and neuro imaging utilizing CT, MR, US, and Mammography.

Presentations will review indications that are routinely seen in general practice. The esteemed faculty will address updates to improve image acquisition and interpretation strategies differentiating between common and less-frequent presentations of various conditions and diseases. Each daily session will conclude with questions and discussion with faculty.

Objectives

The purpose of this course is to increase competence and improve clinician practice in radiology. We specifically anticipate improvements in skills and strategies to:

  • differentiate between gynecologic malignancies and mimics, and the scope of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd trimester development, acute pelvic pain, endometriosis, diffuse liver disease, and peptic ulcers
  • analyze the clinical implications of the latest BI-RADS updates
  • avoid pitfalls in stereotactic biopsies
  • thoroughly review implants, injections, and reconstruction
  • identify pulmonary conditions including incidental findings, fibrosis, and infections
  • evaluate cardiac conditions using CTA protocols
  • reassess presentations of the knee, shoulder, and elbow as well as identify MSK pseudo-tumors
  • recognize brain and spine tumors and their mimics
  • determine when to utilize perfusion imaging for brain tumors
