Overview

This course covers the clinical issues most relevant to hospitalists and other clinicians who care for inpatients. Taught by UCSF’s top teachers and selected guest faculty, the course – in its inaugural year – highlights recent advances and current controversies. To promote active learning, the course will use a mobile audience response system. In addition, there will be dedicated review and consolidation sessions where key learning points will be reviewed.

The course includes broad content in infectious diseases (including updates in COVID), critical care, perioperative care, consult medicine, nephrology, and much more!

This course is presented by the UCSF Division of Hospital Medicine and is sponsored by the Office of Continuing Medical Education, University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine.

Objectives

At the end of the course, learners should have new or improved strategies to:

  • More easily and effectively diagnose common inpatient clinical presentations;
  • Perform an evidence-based evaluation for common inpatient clinical presentations;
  • Apply modern therapeutic approaches to common inpatient disorders;
  • Appreciate the emerging scientific understanding of Covid-19 in hospitalized patients.

Accreditation

The University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine (UCSF) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

UCSF designates this live activity for a maximum of 10.5 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

This CME activity meets the requirements under California Assembly Bill 1195, continuing education and cultural and linguistic competency

ABIM MOC Credits
American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) MOC: Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 10.50 MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. Participants will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.
