Overview
Presented by the UCSF Department of Neurology and Encephalitis International, this course will provide physicians with a state-of-the-art framework for diagnosis and treatment of people with encephalitis and/or meningitis due to autoimmune or infectious causes.
Target Audience
Physicians or advanced practice providers working in internal medicine, critical care, infectious diseases, neurology, pediatrics, psychiatry, oncology, or rheumatology.
Objectives
- Describe strategies to recognize and diagnose adult patients with infectious and autoimmune causes of meningoencephalitis.
- Describe strategies to recognize and diagnose pediatric patients with infectious and autoimmune causes of meningoencephalitis.
- Apply evidence-based strategies to treat patients with autoimmune encephalitis and mitigate treatment-associated risks.
- Apply evidence-based strategies to treat patients with infectious meningoencephalitis and mitigate treatment-associated risks.
- Describe strategies to recognize and differentiate between behavioral and psychiatric disorders due to inflammatory vs non-inflammatory conditions.
Accreditation
