Over the past decade, great strides have been made in our understanding of the pathobiology of pulmonary vascular disease, and from these findings new therapeutic options have emerged. It is increasingly clear that pulmonary vascular pathology is integral to a number of childhood disorders. In this symposium, we will bring together international experts to explore our current understanding of the basic pathobiology as well as new and future therapies for neonatal, pediatric, and adult pulmonary vascular diseases.
Target Audience
Pediatric and Adult Pulmonologists, Cardiology and Critical Care Physicians, Neonatology Physicians, and Advanced Practice Nurses.
Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, attendees will have improved skills and strategies to:
Utilize treatment delivery systems effectively based on past, current, and future therapeutics for neonatal and childhood pulmonary vascular disease;
Apply new knowledge of the developmental vascular biology of neonatal pulmonary vascular disease to increase early detection of the pathology in infants;
Evaluate the new treatment modalities and the latest science behind these advances;
Recognize rare forms of pediatric PVD;
Learn the latest imaging modalities for the right ventricle;
Facilitate diagnosis and treatment choices using genetic testing;
Understand the latest clinical and basic science updates of pulmonary vascular disease.
Accreditation
In support of improving patient care, the University of California, San Francisco is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
Physicians: UCSF designates this live activity for a maximum of 22.75 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
This CME activity meets the requirements under California Assembly Bill 1195, continuing education and cultural and linguistic competency.
Nurse Practitioners and Registered Nurses: For the purpose of recertification, the American Nurses Credentialing Center accepts AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM issued by organizations accredited by the ACCME. This course is also available for 16.00 Nurse Contact Hours as designated by the ANCC.
Physician Assistants: The National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) states that AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM are acceptable for continuing medical education requirements for recertification.
